iFriends	This is very extensive site. Whatever you're looking for in the way of webcams and chat, absolutely anything, you'll find it here. There are categories covering pretty much anything. From chat with friends, to adult voyeur cams... if you can imagine it, chances are you'll find it here. Take a look.
ANYwebcam	A good webcam community site. You have to sign up (30 day free trial) to view the cams and free webcam broadcast software, allows you to display in either general, adult, or private areas. There are several public chat rooms, and also audio chat. Parents should be aware that many of the cams here are found in the adult area. No credit card required
DateCam	A new site, which unlike many cam communities also functions as a dating site. It's features user profiles, multiple category chat rooms, a good search function, and best of all, only requires the Flash MX plug-in for you to view streaming cams and display your own... no complex software installation required. No credit card required.
Camarades aka World of Webcams	This is one of the longest running webcam community sites, and as such has gone through many changes over the years, some for the better, some for the worse. The free software while now easier to set up than it once was does seem somewhat less efficient too... though that is just a personal opinion. What this site excels at is providing a family friendly webcam environment. There are lots of streaming cams, some featuring people with their own chat rooms, some are views inside people's houses showing the day to day goings on, and others are outside views. While there is an adult area on the site, it is well hidden isn't something likely to be stumbled across by someone who isn't specifically looking for it.
MyOwnCam	This site is quite similar to Camarades. An entirely family friendly webcam community with free software for you to download. You can customize your own webcam page and set text overlays on your cam image. The software has one very cool feature that allows you to see if other community members are watching your cam, so if they have their cam running you can go and watch them too. This site has versions in English German and Dutch, which is a nice touch.
JMeeting	Very cool. Anyone who's familiar with AnyWebcam will feel at home on this site, as it's very similar. There's heavy use of java and you'll need the latest java plug-in from Java.com to make it work. Once that's sorted, you can enjoy multiple webcams, multiple chat rooms, self configuring webcam broadcast software, webcam ratings, so you can view adult cams or turn the family filter on. While the use of java my be an initial complication, it has the great benefit of allowing Apple Mac users to enjoy the site too, and makes this one of the very few webcam communities that supports both viewing and broadcasting on the Apple Mac as well as Windows PC. To top it all off, this site is completely free and relies on voluntary donations to finance itself. no credit card required
Earthcam TV	A very large webcam community that appears to have been around for some time. It's free to join, with webcam software, so you can just watch the cams or broadcast your own. While you can watch many of the cams without being a member, you need membership to join the chat rooms. There are a lot of cams here, many with adult content, but sadly there's also a lot of rubbish, with a lot of recorded clips or still images in place of real cams... so sometimes it can be a bit hit or miss finding something worth watching. Nevertheless, this site is entirely worth checking out as image quality and cam speed can be very good.
CamChat.Org	A fairly simple cam chat community site. There's a large list of links to the cams of people who chat here, though as this is not dynamically updated, not all of those listed are active at any one time. There is a single community chat room which though not crowded is certainly a friendly place. While this site is not of the corporate of commercial variety, it represents a very good example of what can be achieved by independent web users.
Livve.com	A fairly complex chat, webcam and gaming community. This site requires you to install a software plug-in before you can use it, though installation is easy enough. Once this is done you will find you have access to many moderated and adult chat areas and can create your own rooms. The audio chat feature is very impressive. The functionality of this site is somewhat confusing at first, and it would appear that only paid members can access the cams, but there are many friendly people who are very helpful when it comes to explaining how things work.
onmycam	After some initial teething problems, this site is now taking off nicely, and the chat rooms are starting to fill up with a friendly group of people. A nice interface, and good atmosphere. Well worth a look. No credit card required.
CUWorld	Very, very, clever stuff. You have to sign up with this free site just to view the cams, and then download some dedicated software (takes 5-10 mins on a dialup connection). Installation of this software is automatic, so don't worry about it. What then happens is, you go into one of the various areas, and can view up to 8 streaming cams simultaneously, while chatting in text or audio with the other members of the room. If you have a cam connected, the software detects it, and streams your video to the room, so others can see you. Benway liked this site.. though did find it a little bugged in places. No credit card required
myvideochat.net	A small, free and fairly simple webcam community. Making use of the free WebcamXP cam and chat software, this site does not allow any adult material and as such, should be suitable for the whole family.
Camfrog	Rather an unusual cam community, this site is based around a free and easy to configure video messenger program and uses the website to bring the community of users together. The site could initially be confusing, but once you get used to how it works, it's quite cool. No credit card required.
SWeb.com	Featuring a lot of adult content, using the Camera ware system the site itself isn't amazingly pretty, but it's worth a look. No credit card required
CameraWare	Join a webcam community, or if you're a webmaster, even create your own. Providing free software and hosting services, the site isn't especially pretty, but that's missing the point. A look at some of the community sites using it's services shows it to be quite effective. Both general and adult content are available. No credit card required.
WebcamNow	One of the most straightforward webcam communities featuring moderated and unmoderated areas, multiple text chat rooms and an audio chat room. The site is free to use with a paid option for faster streaming webcams. No credit card required.
iVideoChat	A very easy webcam chat site to use, as there are no software downloads required. Everything is done using flash. However, while you are able to broadcast your own cam, and chat for free, it appears that you are required to pay for access to view other chatters' webcams.
want2cam.com	Another free cam chat community that uses flash to connect your cam and audio. This looks like it could be really cool, but when Benway visited, appeared to be no-one else there. Possibly a small community. The info on the site certainly suggests it should be friendly
GlobalnetVillage	An interesting looking webcam chat community. This free cam site doesn't appear to have it's own webcam software, but integrates with Yahoo Messenger, KoolKam, Webcam32, Webcam 2000, Windows Media, or WebcamXP_Flash. Implementation of this appears to be very easy. There are options to include plenty if information in personal profiles, and chat and messaging are very easy to access. A quick glance didn't show a great number of users, but this site is still well worth a look.
EarthCam	Not so much a webcam community, as a very extensive portal. Impressive. No credit card required.
